President's Message

Viva Hispanic Foundation NW (Viva) was incorporated on February 28, 2001. Viva Hispanic Foundation NW is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit Washington State corporation. The Foundation was formed to provide educational support and opportunities, and to promote the public good by conducting programs aimed at empowering the members of the Hispanic and other minority communities of the State of Washington.

We were able to achieve success by offering our “Financial Literacy Series”. We presented a series of financial workshops in partnership with local community groups to various Hispanic families in Snohomish and Skagit Counties. Our workshops were designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge in building a strong financial base and gain insight into home financing. In addition, our “Building a Strong Community”, youth program in King County allowed 25-30 youth to participate in learning art, crafts, cultural diversity, and food activities. In addition, we contributed $1000 to the Shoreline Community College Scholarship Fund.

We held our annual Viva Golf Tournament, which is a successful fundraiser for our organization, and promotes camaraderie and networking opportunities by bringing together a variety of professional groups and community organizations. We also participated in providing a series of civil rights forums in our Hispanic communities.

In the coming year we plan to build on our existing programs. We will continue to strengthen our organization by provide leadership training programs for our Directors and Associates, and by forming appropriate partnerships that will result in benefiting the people of Washington State.
